i wish colt did make one in 308,armalite makes one,but colt sadly does not.

Actually, Colt DID make one. One. When Colt bought the rights to the ArmaLite line, the 7.62x51 AR-10 was the main product. As I recall, Colt made at least one prototype 7.62x51 AR-10 before the Army went with the scaled-down 5.56x45 AR-15 version.
