Have you tried Brownells?
Where can I get a barrel nut wrench for my new 6940?
The barrel nut on the 6940 is not the same as the other Colt AR-15/M16 rifles. The Colt 6940 also has a different upper receiver. It is a relatively new rifle produced by Colt.
Is there anyone with knowledge of where a barrel nut wrench for the Colt 6940 is available?
I tried your link. There are 19 pages of posts. I went through them all. I didn't see anything about a barrel nut wrench for a Colt 6940. Did I miss it? Please provide a link directly to the post instead of the main page. I also did a search of that link and didn't come up with anything. Please be a little more specific if you have some information.
I ment to post your ? on there. Mite get a better chance at getting an answer.
I've already got a thread going at arfcom.
You will need a hammer, punch, and a delta-ring wrench. Or you could take it to a gunsmith. Do you know who made the barrel, some are better than others. I had a Shaw 24" 1:8 heavy bull barrel. That rifle produced sub-MOA. I almost forgot, is the old barrel standard, mid, or carbine length? I did not pay too much attention when I started typing. That 24" will need a standard length gas tube. Some barrel sets come with tube, block, and barrel. Just trying to set you up for success, good luck.
He was probably answering someone else’s post.
Have you tried calling Colt? You might also call Brownells on the phone. They get stuff that's not in their catalog or online and their phone service is great. They might not have it, but I'm sure they would be interested in getting it.
