    Colt sp1 Early 3 Digit

I have a couple 3 digit sp1's. They both are real nice. One looks to have very few if any rounds, im going to keep that one. The other is also real nice and maybe had 20 or so rounds in it. They both are in the 300 range. Im not sure on value or how rare they are.. Of course I know what I paid which was not cheap. But I dont need two guns I dont fire. Are they really that rare? Desirable? I thought I seen one go for $5k last year. But that seems high. I guess it depends on the purchaser. Any comment appreciated.

Really depends on the buyer and what he wants. For me, I wouldn't be interested unless I saw a number of $1,950. However, if I was needing to fill a hole in my collection, $2,500 may strike me as interesting.

I agree with pointman. I don't think that even $2500 is a realistic price.
John, the one you think was offered for 5K last year - do you know if that was just the asking price or do you know if the rifle actually sold for 5K?

I see many auctions on line every week that have crazy asking prices for firearms. Many don't sell when excessive prices are asked. Some sellers are greedy, some have an inflated idea of what the firearms they are selling are really worth.

Well I sold the one to a Guy that had 5000 or more feedbacks on GB. I didnt do a auction, just emailed him. He told me that their were only three 3 Digit ar's that sold in the past couple years and they all sold for over $3k. I looked at Blue Book and it does say that first year issues will command allot higher premium. He gave me $3450. I think he is right. I saw a no reserve four digit (which there are a ton of compared to 3 digit) sell for $2k the other week. And the condition was not that good.

Who knows, I still have the other. But I did see one sell last year for $4800 I think it was. So I guess since there were probably only 800 out there, maybe less. The price could be anywere. I just sold a Colt Python Elite for $2750 NIB..... Weird but hey, Who knows....

    Thanks For your input.
