where to buy 10 gauge black powder shells

Thank you for helping me yesterday with my ? about my 1883 double. As I stated I am thinking of selling it mainly because here in Florida where I live I have had no luck finding anywhere to purchase preloaded 10 gauge black powder shells{I assume they were 2 7/8}.I know that they can be hand loaded but I would rather order some already loaded , years ago I did hand load shells for my 12 gauge{smokeless} but with my own buisness and two daughters I hardly have the time to pick up my guns and go shooting.I have spoken to people at local gun shows and have had no luck there either.Any help would be appreciated as I may change my mind and keep it,it is a nice gun and a great piece of American history.

    Well you should consider reloading

I know you said you don't have time but here is the advantage of reloading.
I am loading both low pressure shells for my 1883 12 gauge and 1878 (hammer gun)10 gauge with smokeless powder. So much less mess. The 10 gauge will take some more work as you will have to cut the federal 10 gauge hulls (which are best because it uses a real brass base).

The first time I fired black powder out of my 1883 with plastic wads (I found out later that was the big problem) it took forever to clean the melted plastic out of the barrel. So with black powder you should use fiber wads.

gadcustomcartridges.com sells loaded 10 blackpowder shells. They will also reload them for you.

    Thanks smkummer

What type of performance do you get from the low pressure loads compared to blackpowder?

I am out of town right now. When I get back I'll list the data I found. One load was sr4756 and 1 1/4 oz. shot for 1189 FPS. I just found a load that used Scott 1250 and its pressure was less than 5000 PSI.

RST make low pressure shells for damascus barreled shotguns. I have used the 12 16 and 20s and am very satisified with them. I also do not reload so this was my only option. They do make 10 shells. I don't think they are black powder.
They are very helpful, just give them a call, 570-553-1651, their web site is www.rstshells.com
    I hope this helps you
