Colt Light Rifle LNIB unfired... How'd I do?

Just scored a Colt Light Rifle 30-06 LNIB unfired, for $440... How'd I do? Seems like a steal to me...

Who's the idiot that sold-off New-Amsterdam? I could have been reading this board in Dutch!

If guns are the cause of gunviolence, pens are responsible for writingerrors.

    You did good.

About 8 years ago when these where dumped on the market I bought one for $400 plus shipping and FFL fee. I say you did well. I was hoping for a 308 chambered rifle but even though listed they were never produced as that would have been a shorter action. I believe it was to have a suggested retail of $770. Look in your paperwork and read if yours is not one of the recalled guns. If you don't see that wording, then yours may be one that was on the recall list. I believe only the 30-06 guns come into the recall range. The gun will shoot well. For beaking in the barrel the manual will tell you to clean the barrel between strings of shots. You may find that it may have a missfire as the firing pin spring is not strong. Since I only fire reloaded ammo I carefully make sure my primers are properly seated and the problem disappears. Wolf makes a replacement spring if you find you are getting mis-fires. Colt had Burris make a 3-9 scope for this model and it is marked Colt on the scope. It is basically a fullfield 1 scope in matt finish. I bought several. When you mount a scope on this gun put it as far foward as possible because 30-06 and light rifle should be a warning that if you get your eye too close to the scope its going to hit your eye. Ask me how I know! In fact I had to send the Colt/Burris scope to burris and they fixed free of charge as I jarred something loose on the scope from getting banged 3 or 4 times by having my eye too close.

It's on layaway. Put half down on it. It has been sitting in the rack for the last 5 years, I have been looking at it that long too! Wondered into the shop yesterday after a month long hiatus and there it was marked down $110 so I decided it was time to buy it.

What was the recall for? And if it was recalled, will colt still fix it?
