Cheaperthandirt.com has som 22lr mags for ar's. many other ar websites do as well. I've also seen some on gunbroker.
I recently picked up a Colt conversion kit in a garage sale, in the packaging, with one mag. It works pretty well in my AR. Anyone have thoughts on this piece compared to others on the market. Gunbroker has several listed in the $200+ range, which is more than double what I paid. Also, does anyone know where I can find additional mags for it? My mag is a full-body mag, but the ones for sale on GB are not similar, but more skeletonized. I don't know if they will fit or not.

Is this the colt conversion kit you bought?, this is the original colt conversion kit called the M261, it works great I am not familiar with the other models.

It's hard to tell from the pictures, but I don't think so. Yours looks to be hinged at the front, and mine is not. I called Colt soon after posting and the tech guy was pretty familiar with the conversion, as well as the gunbroker listings. He said the model I have was a commercial version. There was also a military version, which the steel "skeleton" mags on gunbroker at the time were used for. The commercial version only uses the Colt plastic "full body" mags. He did give me Black Dog's name, and I sent an email to them. His reply is below. Sorry I didn't post before. BTW, no affiliation with them. Haven't ordered yet, I'm waiting on the plastic mags to be released. Jim.
"Hi Jim,
Thanks for your inquiry. Actually, the aluminium body hi-cap mags for the Colt .22LR conversion kit have been available for sale since late February of this year. These are a very robust, top quality 25rd mag made from a solid aluminium billet. Each comes standard with a last shot bolt-hold-open follower and protective rubber feed lip cover. They are priced at $65 each. (A lower price polymer body version of this mag should be ready for sale by mid-July.)
FYI... For every aluminium Colt .22LR mag that you purchase, you are eligible for a $10 discount on one of my Colt .22LR replacement firing pins or extractor kits (both normally priced at $35 each) -or- a free Colt .22LR replacement recoil spring kit.
I accept credit card payments via PayPal and US Postal service money orders. (A 3% transaction fee applies for all PayPal purchases.)
Please let me know if you need any more information, or if you would like to place an order.
Thanks again,

The military M261 conversion uses special stick magazines that are inserted into a 20-round AR-15/M16 magazine. The inserts can also be put in the 30-round magazines. The M261 was not made by Colt. The Black Dog is essentially the M261 unit.
The long stick magazines are used with the commercial conversions such as the old Bro-Caliber and its progeny. (The Ciener and the like are copies of the original Bro-Caliber, which is in turn based on the Attchison.) I believe the new Black Dog magazines have the same feed geometry as the old stick magazines.
The Colt Conversion Units are a different design, but function on the same general principal. They seem to have collector value as well as shooter value. I have one, but have never opened the package.
In my opinion (I have one of about every rimfire conversion ever made for the AR-15/M16 so have compared them all), the absolute best rimfire conversion for AR-15/M16 semi-automatic fire is the Air Force unit. It is gas-operated instead of blow-back and locks open on the last shot. It uses the white nylon magazines that are the size of 30-round magazines, but only hold 10 rounds. The chamber insert is even rifled on the Air Force unit!
