    WTK: SP1 value?

Can you give me a rough idea of where to price this excellent condition SP1? S/N SP17XXX, based on another page in this forum, about 1971 w/ a 3-prong flashhider.

3 prong is too early for that example.

I just bought a mint SP1 that was made in 1968 all original and it came with the bird cage flash supressor, I paid $1000 shipped to me, I have seen samples made in the late 70' selling for $1800, I guess it depends how bad you want it, there is one, or was as of several weeks ago, on another forum that I belong selling for $1000 I believe the serial # was in the 15XXX range, the guy send pictues of it but I bought an earlier model from someone else.

    Thanks

Thanks men, I'm not sure what you mean by 3 prong is too early but someone at Colt told me there was no exact s/n range where they switched.

Thanks to both of you guys.

From my observations as a young Marine in the early 70's, we had M16A1's with both the 3 prong and birdcage flash supressors, the military wanted the 3 prong ones removed from service for various reasons, we used them to cut the wire used on the ammo crates, I am sure that the SP1 production during that time refects that way of thinking, I like the 3 prong ones for the looks but my SP1 came with the bird cage one.
