A whole day up and no answer?? Maybe I need to take the question to an AR-15 forum.
I have an original Colt M-16 scope designed (with integral parts) to mount on an M-16 carry handle by means of that hole on top. My brother bought it new back in the 1970s, and when I bought his AR-15 back in 1981 it came with it. Nowadays, though, I don't own an AR that's not a flat top with a Picatinny rail. Other than using a carry handle/A2 peep sight attachment, can I mount the Colt M-16 scope on my ARs? Is there an adapter available?

I know you are not wanting the carry handle option, but I've not seen (in person) any mount other than the carry handle that will work with this scope. But, the carry handles that came with my flat-tops had the hole in them to allow for mounting the Colt scope. Have you checked that out? I mean actually mounted it and checked out the ergonomics? I found them to work pretty well.
Outside of perhaps experimenting with one of those UTG scope mounts that allows you to mount THEIR clone of the Colt scope to a flat top, I don't know what else to try...

Thanks Mike. I actually do have a carry handle and it does work, but was just wondering if there was another option for mounting directly on the Picatinny rails.
I'm not sure if they have anything, but have you checked out Brownells?
