    Question about Sporter HBar

I have had this Sporter HBar for several years, and have always wondered if it was a Delta HBar or a very good copy. It has everything the Delta has including the checkpiece, Tasco rubber scope, leather sling, and aluminum case, Is there any way to tell if it is a real Delta or one somebody added all the features too? Here is a picture.

Only Colt can tell you for sure.

Usually, you have to buy a Colt Archive letter, but they might tell you the model over the phone.
Colt will tell you the year made over the phone but they usually won't tell you more for free.

In this case, they might tell you if it is a factory Delta.
Just call the Colt factory during business hours. Have the serial number and model ready.

    Delta H-Bar

I'm not an expert on this but didn't the Delta H-Bar's have a bayonet lug and the pistol grip had the "delta" ensignia in it like the Delta Elite pistols?

The Delta HBAR was introduced in 1987 (R6600DH) and came out of the Colt Custom Shop. The see through scope mount was designed by ARMS Inc.. The pistol grip should have the delta symbol on both sides.

In 1991 it was renamed the Sporter Match Delta HBAR (R6601DH) when the bayonet lug was removed. Otherwise, on the outsde they were the same. Inside, the trigger pin was increased to .170 to prevent FA parts being installed.

Your pistol grip does not show the delta symbol so it is either a build or "real" one with a replaced grip.

They didnt have bayonet lugs, but the grips have always made me think it is not a Delta. Most all of the Delta's I have seen have the ensignia as you stated. There is one listed at Cabelas now without the ensignia, but who knows if it is legit or not. http://www.cabelas.com/gun-inventory...elta-rog.shtml

Another thing is the reciever of mine is stamped as Sporter Match HBar. Other Sporter Match HBars serial numbers I have seen start with a MH prefix, my serial number is SP2502XX. I do not think mine is a Delta because of the grips. Think I will give Colt a call.

I have a Delta H-Bar and the Delta stickers fell off the pistol grip a long time ago. I found one and have it is a bag to keep with the gun's accouterments, but the other one vanished. Therefore, the absence of Delta stickers probably is not determinative since the adhesive on the stickers fails after a few years and the Deltas are about twenty years old or more now.

    Judgecolt,

It never occurred to me that the stickers could have fallen off. That gives me some optimism. Thanks for the info.

I called Colt today and they said it is not a Delta. The model on mine is R6601, made in 1990. Thanks for the help.
