    AR15 Born On Date

    Folks,

I've looked at ProofHouse.com and searched here, but I still have a question regarding my SP-1 AR15. The serial number on the gun is SP 1 839xx, which seems to have an extra digit. If I discount the "1" the Proof House list shows a born on date of 1978 or newer.

My question is about the "1" - it looks as if it's stamped as part of the serial number - SP 1 839xx, but I'm wondering if the actual serial number is simply 893xx. Am I reading too much into this extra digit? Is it simply part of the model designation?

    Thanks!!

The model number of your rifle is SP1. The one is NOT part of the serial number.
