    Big money for a Sauer

Colt Sauer's are some nice guns, but I never thought I'd see one swap hands for this much:

I have been told that 308 is one of the rarest calibers. Keep kicking myself for passing on a used one for $900 10 years ago. But I too don't understand that price either.

The 308's do go for more than the other calibers. The Sauer historian says the 22-250 is the rarest short action but for some reason the 308 seems to get top dollar. A grade 3, grade 4 or a drilling will push you well north of this price range. Compared to what you can buy today they are still probably way undervalued.

I have always thought, those Sauer Colts and the Belgium Browning Safari (and Medallion ) where some of the most undervalled production bolt actions made.
Can't recall then @800 but I do recall passing on one for 1000 at a Pa show years ago.

A local shop here in Greenville SC currently has one in a 30/06 for $1650. I would love to own it, but my pockets are not that deep.

That might not be a bad price if it has the box and is in high condition.

Found this site with bit of info on the Sauer's
