The 4 position stock seems like its short even with the 4th position. Anyone else notice this? Are they assuning you wil be wearing a heavy coat?

I'm also curious about this as I'v stayed away from the CAR type stock due to its short length of pull. Can they be extended?

No, you cannot unscrew the extension tube to get more length of pull for shouldering the rifle.
Perhaps there are after market tubes that are longer. I don't know. I stay with the standard length tubes.
I'd suggest shooting it and getting used to it.

I forgot to add that the extension tube nut is staked in place with Colts CAR type stocks. This can be defeated but it makes removing the extension tube harder.

I believe that the Magpul ACS and the Vltor E-Mod are longer than the standard Colt collapsible stock. If so, that would just be a matter of ordering the stock and switching it out.

The Vltor A5 receiver extension is 3/4" longer than a stock Colt extension, but that's a little more expensive and involves a little more work to install if you don't have the tools yourself.
