Colt Barrel Codes

I just bought a Colt Match Target AR-15 MT6601 the other day. I have taken it apart to lube it up and well, to take it apart. I found the date code of 12/08 near the front sight. The stamp forward of the front sight is C MP 5.56 NATO 1/7 HBAR(I know what these mean). There is also a "G" stamped at the chamber end under the gas tube. It's definitely a "G" and not an "O". Anyone know what the "G" stands for?
