The Colt Defense web site still shows the 6721:
Colt Law Enforcement
I suspect that the LE rifles are still built under tighter Mil-spec standards than the commercial models, so they'll continue making the LE-only rifles.
I see that Colt is now selling "Sporter" rifles to the general market? Did they discontinue sales of the Law Enforcement models 6721, 6920, 6940, etc.? Are the sporter models the same? Their web site indicates that the SP6920 (replacement for the LE6920) doesn't have a bayonet lug or flash hider? See link below:
Colt Sporters
Thanks in advance for your replys. Regards, rck58

Sporter rifles are exactly the same as the LE guns, flash hiders and bayonet lugs and all. There are no different specs from LE guns to Commercial guns.

The "commercial" models are still marked for LE use only??
Nope the commercial models have the sporter roll on the left and are blank on the right.

The different lines, military and LE versus civilian, are produced by two "different" entities I believe.

To quote Colt:
Effective November 4, 2002, Colt completed reorganizing its operations into separate military and commercial businesses. As a result Colt Defense LLC was established to conduct the business of manufacturing and selling military products while Colt’s Manufacturing Company, Inc. will continue to manufacture and sell commercial products. The ultimate goal of this reorganization is to better position and equip each business to compete in it’s own marketplace.

To try to clarify even more. Colt Commercial Mfg. buys rifles from Defense. All of your commercial models are made by the same people and processes that make the defense rifles. LE is the same way they buy rifles from Defense.

So why are the Colt Le6940 $100 to $150 more than the sporter version if they are exactly the same gun?
