    Identify Antique Double Barrel

I believe this is a colt double barrel shotgun. 10 ga. I have another that I believe to be an 1868 but this appears to be older. Please help.

I don't know but I have to say that is one cool looking shotgun!
Not a Colt but I would say probably an import. Belgian maybe? What are the markings/proofmarks?

    Looks like a European import.

Well according to the owner it does say Colt mfg. co. on it. But there is another gun that she has which is definately an 1878. She said she believed that they are both colt. She said that no history existed on it because of a fire?...in the colt factory in chicago or something. I'll have to get back with her. But I am operating with the understanding that it is a colt.

Could be a Winchester according to grandmother. I thought belgium too. Any body know where to get info on such imports. The family is not interested in worth, but history.

That trigger and gaurd are key here. Anybody know what the name of that style is.
