Any info on this one yet? 308 good or bad? I wonder when it will be out?

No idea what the price is, doesn't seem to be available yet
That's a link to a thread about the SP901. I think that's all the info we have around here on it unless somebody is holding out on us.
Thanks, sorry I didn't realize it was a link. I was searching around, some forum, I do not remember stated sometime in August. Thanks for the post.
The SP901 will be out in Q4 of this year. The msrp has not been released yet despite what some distributors have on the web.

I know this is a point of personal preference, and being new to this forum I can only imagine this has been beat to death already, but I'll ask the question anyway. How much Picatinny rail space does one need on a rifle? Our Department of Defense replaced the open flash suppressor with the bird cage because the old style was getting hung up on things, among other reasons. It looks to me that all that rail has the potential for getting hung up a lot, but it comes with the bird cage. The 7.62X51 is well served by a good scope but I'm trying to figure out what else you need on a rifle that is designed for the range of 200-500 yards and beyond. Certainly not a flash light.
Again, it's a personal pref, but I'm just wondering.
A lot of people are starting to prefer a shooting stance in which their weak hand reaches far out on the handguard (like this or this) to better control muzzle rise. I believe it started in the 3-gun world and has been catching on with tactical and military shooters for a couple of years now. Thus the trend towards longer handguards and rail systems. Also, this firearm is convertible from 7.62 to 5.56, so it may serve other roles besides long-range shooting.

The rifle also features completely embidextrous controls. I saw it at the SHOT Show and it was pretty neat. An AR-10 style rifile in .308 is appealing to me. The fact that you can put your AR-15 .223/5.56 "upper" on this rifle and still use AR-15 mags in the .308 magwell (with an adaptor) is pretty neat too. Sort of a 2 for 1 deal.
