Sporter II Questions

I have a Sporter II serial number: SP 3143xx

What is/are the difference(s) in this rifle vs. the earlier Sporter other than date of manufacture. My rifle came with an upper w/o the brass deflector/bolt assist.

What year would my rifle have been manufactured? (I did check the Forum's sticky already)

I have installed a Jewell trigger and really enjoy shooting it with a Bushmaster Dissipator upper...being a lefty, that lack-of-deflector upper was not going to work for me...the first shot left a .223 caliber burn circle on my forehead.

The earlier Sporter II, R6400 came without the forward assist or case deflector. The updated Sporter II (R6401) came with forward assist but no case deflector. Later Sporter II's (R6500) had both. The R6400 was introduced in 1985. If you are tired of getting hit with the fired brass, I will gladly take it off your hands so you can get a Sporter Match HBAR or a Government Model. I have both, but no early Sporter II.

BTW, my information comes from "The Black Rifle II". I hope I'm reading it correctly.
