Took My LE6920 To The Range

Hey all, just took my brand new LE6920 to the range today here in Virginia. Let me tell you, I am ASTONISHED by this rifle. After sighting in (didn't take much at 25 yards) my iron sights, I ran the target out to 50 yards and proceeded to put 120 rounds through until snow squalls put an end to my fun. Let me say, I was consistently putting the rounds in a tight group right around the bullseye with a spread of about 3 inches. I was amazed at the accuracy of this rifle--just floored! I used Federal 62 grain 5.56 green tips for the first 40 and then switched to the black box 55 grain .223 for the remaining 80. The Colt didn't care and continued to put the rounds in the bullseye area. I can't imagine what I'd be able to do with a scope! Let me just say I am hooked and although this is my first Colt, I'm already contemplating a second.

Congratulations, that's great to hear. I visit some other AR forums and Colt seems to be the standard by which others are judged.

I've got a new SP 6940 for Christmas that I need to get to the range so your experience is encouraging.

Boneyard, Great shooting. Back in 94 I brought a R6601 A2 20" barrel Hbar. I still shoots 1 inch groups at 100yds (bench rest)
with 69gr. match ammo. My new Colt carbine is the 6520 16" LW A2. It shoots little groups too. Happy New Year,

Wow! That is truly impressive. Looks like I need more time at the range to hone my skills to try and get that close. So far, I've really enjoyed this rifle and am thinking of getting another! Maybe the .22 version so that I can shoot all day long at a decent price!

Try it. I've been to the range four times since I bought it and have had a ball. I've even enjoyed breaking it down and cleaning (to me, its like therapy and cheaper then a shrink). Amazing rifle, accurate as all can be, great fit and finish, and has attracted a fair amount of attention at my range.
