    Colt Lightning .22?

Hey Guys, I've got this old Colt .22 rifle my great Uncle gave me. I've been doing some research, and although the rifle doesn't have many markings (serial#, patent dates, and the cal), I think I've figured out that it's a Colt Lighting Carbine, that it was made sometime around the 1900s, and that it's not in the best condition.

So, I'm just trying to figure out more information about it. When it was made, is it actually a lightning, etc. And though, I'm trying to sell it, I am curious what it might be worth. If needed I can take some more pics.

    Thanks Guys, Stephen.

Yours is pretty typical of a untouched 22 lightning. The barrel condition is a factor here as many are poor due to blackpowder and corosive primers back then. If it has a shootable bore, it should get a bid starting at $500 or more. If the bore is shot out, then 400 would be a guess. I bought one that had a shot out bore and had it re-lined at a cost of $125 plus shipping and now its a great shooter. Some people have these listed for much more than that but they do not get any bids. just my .02

smkummer appears to be right on for prices here in Ohio. I do see them higher with a good bore (dealers will have them at 600-700 on their table but they just dont sell at that price). Also, yours does have the rampant Colt on the sides which is a big plus. With a nice bore it should be quite sellable..you didnt mention bore condition. 1899 manufacture was serial 35300 to 42800 so yours is 1899, which means you just missed the 1898 antique classification (collectors would appreciate a pre 1899 more...all else equal). Relining may turn a non shooter into a shooter, but my experience is collectors dislike relined bore worse than pitted bores (at least on a few 1890 Winchesters I had trouble selling).
