    Colt LE901-16S

I bought this on the 26th of July. It has the letter that states that it is one of the first 100 manufactured for commercial sales. With that the serial number is 00037X. I have heard the first 100 serial numbers go from about 000109 to mine at 00037X. So Colt did not use sequential numbers.

The rifle will group about 1.5 to 2 inches at 100 yeard with Privi M80 Ball ammo. I have not tried any Match ammo yet. The only ammo that it does not like is some surplus German DAG. It would short stroke on this ammo, but functions flawlessly on the Privi, South African and others.

The trigger is decent for a stock Colt trigger and better than most of my other Colt stock triggers. The 901 is heavier than my SCAR 17 but the recoil is softer.

Great looking rifle and accessories. Congratulations!

Wow! That looks pristine. I'm glad to see that somebody has finally gotten their hands on one of these. Would you mind posting some pictures of the internals and maybe some action shots and groups? Congrats on the new rifle!

Excellent AR, now lets start checking out that 370+ s/n cause I can tell you right now that story's gonna be discussed. Fortunately there's a guy from Colts Custom Shop on this forum who's quite the little problem solver who might be able to clear this up. Sorry, I was born in the Philly area and therefore don't trust my own mother. (I know my brother was the milkman's)

    It was $2K.

A couple things that people may want to know. The charging handle in the 901 is exclusive to it. AR10 charging handles are longer and 5.56 charging handles are shorter. The grip/trigger area dimensions are different than 5.56 carbines/rifles. I installed a Magpul trigger guard today and the back of it protrudes into the grip area. I had to relieve the front edge of the BCM grip that I bought for the weapon.

    I will get more photos.

What do you have mounted on the top of the hand guard in front of the scope toward the muzzle?

Nice rifle hk! I want one myself, within the next 6-7 months. Would be as soon as I see the first one I can get. But just got my Colt Custom Shop work order for the tactical package on my rail gun, so half of my LE901 money will be in the mail on Monday...

I can confirm the OP's statement on the serial number range of the "first 100" 901's shipped from Colt to the Civillian market. Here is number #113.
