New 6920 carry handle (or lack of one) markings

Picked up a new 6920 at my local gunshop this week. Paid 1155 with tax, ( he is not gouging) but it came without the carry handle. I like the handle. There are a few handles for sale but what markings should be on it. I see one they call a cardinal ,a square and also a circle with a 1 in it. They all seem to run the same about 80. But I would like to get one with the correct markings.

I like the carry handle too and plan on getting one sometime in the near future. I think they make the colt M4 look complete. You will probably have to get the milspec carry handle, which is 0.040 of an inch taller than the commercial version to go with the "F" marked front sight base of the Colt 6920. I don't know who sells the Colt brand, but Bravo Company, BCM, sells the correct carry handle for milspec M4's and is a good place to start looking.

Congrats on your new 6920 and it's great that your dealer are only asking the MSRP price in todays panic buying crazy prices and you must have the new 2013 configuration which doesn't include the carry handle, side front sling mount, cleaning rods and two 20 rd aluminum mags.

I have the factory Colt detachable carry handles with the last 3 carbines that I bought in the last three consecutive years (I broke the factory boxes seals myself at the dealer so I know nobody swapped it), LE6920 last year, SP6920 in 2011, and a AR6721 HBAR carbine in 2010, they all came with the square forge markings which is forged by Brass Aluminum Forging Enterprises.

The square forging marks are not exclusive to Colt, other brands also use this forging, the forging mark indicates who did the raw forging of the part and there are many companies that actually machines and assembles the carry handles.

Besides the commercial and mil-spec types there are a lot of fakes out there so be careful, Chinese made junk usually are cast and have circular mold marks on the sides of the carry handles, some dishonest dealers are swapping these fakes on new Colt AR.

I bought a mil-spec fake in 2005 which the seller said it was a Colt but it have a very rough forge flash inside the carry hole itself, marked with splintered A and letter B, it came with a Colt 6721 upper half.

I went to a clamp-on A2 carry handle on a 15-22 and it's worked just fine; because it was going on a plastic fantastic, there was no need to be especially picky.
Really applaud some fellow traditionalists using irons; let me suggest that the XS stripe front sight is a real bonus for picking up the sight against a broken background, and you can try the ghost ring 'same plane' rear sight if you aren't interested in especially long range.
    Enjoy those irons.

Not to be nit-picky, but since the 6920 is *supposed* to come with the detachable carry handle, your dealer *is* gouging you, by at least the cost of the carry handle...

Not if it's a 6920MP-B Magpul edition. They don't come with a carry handle since they come with a flip-up Magpul BUS instead.

Yes, the newer versions and the 2013 configuration comes without the carry handle. Instead, we get the Rogers super stoc and the Magpul flip-up rear sight.

Thanks, That is some good information. I didn't know you could get original Colt parts like that.
