Colt Frontier Scout .22

It's stainless and I'm not sure which model. Here is a pic. Any idea what I should offer the seller? Comes with original box & booklet
Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike. It's nickel plated, not stainless.
I'd offer $300.

Oops he actually did offer it as nickel but I've been in stainless land the last couple of days with other deals. Don't have the serial # but I've offered $400 (about par with US) because there is a premium on any single action colts up here so we'll see if it goes anywhere. Don't need but it is pretty.

Mike, yessir, as said above definitely 'nickel' and if boxed that is at "retail" for around here, so you'd be fine.As you say, in some places you just do NOT see and find them, at least NOT 'nice' ones.............

Re: Colt Frontier Scout .22

The nickel plated Frontier Scout and Buntline Scout revolvers were produced by Colt from 1960 until 1970. They are known to Scout collectors as the "K Series" because the serial numbers had a "K" suffix. They were offered in .22 LR, .22 Magnum and as dual cylinder guns ( with .22 LR and Magnum cylinders). The single caliber guns were usually shipped in wood cases marked with the Colt logo. The dual cylinder Frontier Scouts were usually shipped in two piece tan boxes with cutouts for the revolver and for the extra cylinder. They had a white and red label on one or both ends of the box. The dual cylinder Buntline Scout is a very rare revolver and some were apparently shipped in wood cases with a cutout for the extra cylinder and some may have been shipped in two-piece woodgrain boxes. Retail on a K .22 LR Frontier Scout should be $400 to $500. A .22 Magnum or dual cylinder Frontier Scout might be a little more. The Buntline Scout guns are generally $100 to $200 more. I've never seen a dual cylinder K Buntline Scout for sale so I don't know what one would sell for. On a personal note, the first Colt I ever owned was a K series Frontier Scout which I bought in 1964 in a gun shop in Oceanside, California.

Nice review , so not much to add. The K Scouts were the nicest in my opinion. More heft and more durable finish than the same alloy P series blue 62 Scouts. From the pic this is an early model , pre 64 because it has an unpinned barrel. This gun made in stainless today is a guaranteed winner. Anyone at Colt listening? Buy it, shoot it , enjoy it. I have pr and really enjoy shooting them. Will have to get around to posting some pictures.
