Newbie needing help on Peacemaker 22

I have a lady who is wanting to sell a .22 Peacemaker. The SN is G99911 and I need to know when it was made. Also, the cylinder for the .22 LR has very deep rust pitting on it so it is worthless. He deceased hubby took the original grips off and put some homemade "Bubba" wood grips on it, complete with a WOOD SCREW to hold them on. Precious!!! The rest of the revolver is generally in good condition with one very small rust spot on the ejector rod housing and some VERY light bloom on the right side of the color case frame. The barrel bore and rifling are like new. She wants $300.00 for it but I won't offer more than $200. Am I in the plus or minus category on this one?? Thanks for any help!!!!

Without Pictures this could be a tough call, But I don't think, just guessing, that she is completely out of line. The "G" Series is one of the more desirable, with NIB values bringing upto $1,000.00 in some neighborhoods.

Why don't you split the difference? You still have an excellent shooter!

    Colt 22 peacemaker

Most 22 Peacemakers are G series, the rarer ones are a small group of L series made in 1974. I would not pay anywhere near $1000 for a nib specimen. You can still find them for under 600. The one you are looking at is worth around 275-300 in the condition you state. Original grips will run you around 45, and a new cylinder around $100. If Colt had any sense they would run these again. Historically the little 22s retailed for a little under 50% of the retail price of the full size SAA. Today they would go for $650 or so. Considering Ruger Single Sixes are going for over $400, the Colt would sell. If the rest of the one you are looking at is nice with nice case colors, I would go for it. Without the 22lr cylinder it is less of a bargain, but you can look for a used one or for around $80Gun parts Corp has reproduction cylinders.

for that condition and with those "issues" that is a "fair" price, but I'd doubt if I'd put that much into it....as for the cylinder, do not say "worthless", I have been known to be able to "save" some real junkers over the years and I 'd be happy to take a look at it and redo it for you, we do this all the time since I have been 'retired"..................

Thanks to all for the help!! Dant....by a "fair price" do you mean my price of $200.00 or Lawman67 price of $275 to $300???? If I buy it I will send you the LR cylinder to look at. Again, many thanks to everyone for your help.

    22 Peacemaker

In today's market $275 would be fair especially if you can salvage the 22 lr cylinder. I have seen junkers on gunbroker for $399.

The gun was made about 1974. I think $275 would be a fair price.
