From 1974 to 1977 at least, Colt catalogs showed the Cobra with the same stocks as the Detective Special.

I picked up a pair at a gun show, easy peasy, for my DS. I've seen others. I think there should be a relatively good supply out there.
    Sincerely,

The pic shows the same grips that came on my '75 Cobra. I've seen them pop up on eBay.

Now when you say "catalog" does that mean there is a book i can buy with all the colt DA revolvers in it? What kind of other information does it have

No, that means some of us have Colt catalogs from over the years. Notice I said "showed" (past tense). Some saved them from "then", some have been collecting them after the fact for years and some of us have picked up a few more recently as part of the overall Colt collecting thing. They are a good reference, but have their limitations. Some years the catalogs had a little more information and some years pitifully little. They appear on auction sites and even in the classifieds here.

The Book of Colt Firearms by Sutherland and Wilson is still the best, but also the priciest. It covers to circa 1971. There is a "Standard Catalog" and it may be an adequate starter at a reasonable price but here are comments. Standard Catalog Of Colt Firearms

There is, of course, a lot of good info on the forum. Unfortunately, to me, the search engine with the new forum is even worse than the old and the inherent organization does not make it (the forum) an easy to use reference. A lot of browsing is probably as good a way as any to come across information over time.
