Hard Chromed Detective Special with Bobbed Hammer and Night Sight

Does anyone have any information on this Detective Special? I believe they were released through Lew Horton or the Colt Custom Shop. I just bought one that is 100% NIB complete with archive letter on it's way. I should have it by the end of the week. I can't seem to turn up ANY info on these guns but understand that it was a "limited" production run. I believe they were made in either 1995 or 1996. Here are a couple sneak peek pics:

I do have one of these and they are rare birds. I haven't seen one in a few years. I will post my letter up for you. It didn't state numbers produced but if it's a Lew Horton I am figuring Earl can shed light on that

Here is how mine lettered. It actually came from Ellett Brothers and not Lew Horton. I am interested to see if yours letters the same. What's your serial number?

Thanks for the info. This is the first one I've ever seen, making yours the second. I'll post a copy of my archive letter once it arrives. Here's a quick crappy pic of an advertisement from the Colt Catalog (1995?) that lists the gun. I'm not sure about the Horton connection, but will check out the paperwork I'm receiving with the gun.

I'm finding out more about the gun on the forum now that I modified my search to include "Hard Chrome, Bobbed Hammer, Night Sight"...

Was going to say I'd seen that in a Colt catalog as a custom shop offering and there is the proof!

I also have a boxed one and I seem to recall that mine is not a Horton gun either. I didn't letter the gun but I did have communications with Earl.

Yes, I'm beginning to believe that it's a Custom Shop item and possibly not associated with Lew Horton. I'll post an update when it arrives.
