    New frontier 22 magnum cylinder

I just inherited a new frontier 22 from my uncle . Where can I get a magnum cylinder.

I am going to ask my aunt if she has it some where in the house but in case she does not. It might be there since she found the gun in a closet.

    New Frontier 22

If the serial number is below G200000 and it does NOT have the cross-bolt safety, you can install a .22 Magnum cylinder and shoot it safely.
There is such a cylinder offered right now on GunBroker. Search on "colt cylinder", it is item number 132402754.

However, if it does have the cross-bolt safety under the loading gate, DO NOT install a Magnum cylinder. The bore dimensions are for the .22 LR only and will result in excessive pressure if the Magnum is fired in it.

You can buy cylinders, including "replacement" (non-Colt) cylinders.
Gun Parts Corp sell a replacement.

However, cylinders DO NOT just drop in.
They require careful fitting by someone who knows cylinder fitting, especially in the hotter .22 Magnum.
The cylinder has to be checked for head space, end shake, barrel/cylinder gap, chamber/bore alignment, and cylinder timing.
Just because a cylinder fits into the frame does NOT mean its safe to shoot.

Fitting on all cylinders is the same.

The best instructions on how to fit and adjust a single action cylinder is in the Jerry Kuhnhausen book "The Colt Single Actions: A Shop Manual".
This is a real pistolsmith manual that shows all single action repair and re-build techniques.
A .22 cylinder will be fitted the same way as a center fire cylinder:

    Money VERY well spent:

Don't forget to request the free catalog. Its the best "gun stuff" and gunsmith catalog in the world.
