    Old Colt Catch

I fell into a deal on a bunch of old Colt's a couple days ago. I think I am in wayyy over my head trying to I.D. and evaluate. Also, what do I use to clean up and polish the blued ones. Most of these are in great shape for oldies. I know one is a Bisley, One a Frontier Six Shooter, one ( I think ) is a 1877 Lightning model D.A., One is an SAA 45 Long Colt, Looking at pictures in a book, I believe one is a 1860's Army, and there sre 2 others that look like it, only smaller. Also a topless .22, and a little .32. I will be spending the day trying to figure out whatever I can about these. I will take pictures and post them also. If anyone lives near Greenville, SC, COME OVER & HELP !!!!!

    You have our attention

Most here would love to come across what you have obtained. We can help if you post pics.. As far as cleaning them up, the only thing I would do at this time is to wipe them off with a lightly oiled rag. Looking foward to pics. What caliber is the Bisley?

The Bisley is a 38 WCF. It seems to be in excellent condition, s/n is 269239, 5.5" barrel. I will post pics as soon as camera battery charges !!

    Pics Posted

Here is a group shot, and 2 of the Bisley. I am not a Colt collector, so please, pardon my ignorance when it comes to my question !!!! Feel free to pepper me with info, offers, trades, etc, etc, etc....

I have not cleaned any of these, and am sure they would look better wiped down, but what should I use ?

Hey Tom, I believe you are nearby, stop over and play with them with me. I just Identified 2 more, one is an 1849 pocket revolver, one isn't a Colt, its an E. Whitney.

RIKKN, I am not a single action guy but those are fantastic! Up until last year I used to visit Greenville on a regular basis - my company was based there.

    Best regards, Racingsnake

The Bisley appears to be in very nice original condition from what I can tell from the pictures.

The top gun (Single Action) in the group picture appears to have the style of frame with the base pin retaining screw in the front of the frame; termed Black Powder frame by many collectors. What’s the serial number range of the gun? From the picture (kind of blurry) it appears to have a “Target” or Post Style front sight, but the top of the frame doesn’t appear to be the Flat Top Target type. Do you have better pictures of that gun?
