nice shooting charles! those krags are slick. you could do a lot worse than a krag carbine and a .38 colt even today. i can't think of a situation in which i'd consider myself helpless so armed.
This is just for you exposed ejector type Colt aficionados.
Not many videos out there featuring these types of guns and I believe that at least a couple of you will find this interesting.
The Colts New Army is loaded to full powered SAW era Service specs.
The Krag is squibbed with lead 215gr lead bullets at about 800fps so as not to blow holes through the steel targets. Unfortunately, it was sighted for 125 yds and I just couldn't get on for those last 5 shots at 200yds-too much arc in the trajectory for me to figure it out fast enough!
This was a BLAST!

A lot of CAS shooters show up for this Kid Sopris. A lot the same but the targets are farther away and you have to reload.
Nice shooting!
Here's a related video I shot a while ago. My 1892 .38 Colt fired with black powder in slow motion:

You sure work that Krag fast, Charles. I'm left handed and I envy you because, alas, I'll never experience that (brake out the violins). I had a cut down Krag once though and was super slick. It had a weird tiny little peep that folded out, as I recall.
I was back in Lenoir N.C., in 2006 for the Carolina Belle Bust Out. I was the Publicity Guy who got NASCAR and Senator Dole involved in the Charity Shoot. I can tell you I was never treated so Nice as them folks did in NC..Well maybe for the time I was in Wyoming, Montana...LOL

Well done Marine! I love the globe and anchor on the front of your period hat!
Stay safe,

Charles. Is your gun a .38 Special? Look at my gun here. It's a 1905 vintage O.M. in .38 Special. Not bored out from a .38 Long Colt . Did they come in both calibers. Mine is #127X. Is that close to yours? I don't see these around much, if at all.![]()
