    Aging a Buntline Scout

I'm awakening a .22 magnum Single Action Buntline Scout from a 25 year nap in my safe to generate funds for something I'd shoot more. In referencing ProofHouse, I can't seem to find its serial number on the charts (I'm sure it must be me). I'd appreciate any help. The serial number is 89xxK (I understand the K refers to its nickel plate finish). Any notion of value would be helpful, too (the nickel is dull in a couple of places), as I haven't seen many of these either on this forum or the usual sales and auction sites.

    Thanks, y'all.

Looks like it was made in 1961, and yes the K Series was Nickel finished. The Scout was available in just .22 Magnum chambering. There were just under 1600 K Series Buntline Scouts in .22 Magnum made. The dulling of the Nickel will probably clean right up with a gentle application of Flitz.

The K Frontier Scouts and Buntline Scouts were shipped with a wood display case with red lining and a cut-out on the bottom in the shape of the revolver. The presence of the case will add at least a hundred bucks to the value of the revolver.
Depending on condition (fired/unfired, original grips, case/no case and so on), the gun may be valued anywhere from $500 to $800 or maybe a little more if it is extra nice.

Thanks, gents. I'll pick up some Flitz and take a few pictures this weekend. See if I can turn this old gal into cash so I can pick up a Lightweight Commander for the Misses. She shot a neighbor's Kimber Pro Carry and fell in love with the size and weight. Very interesting that the Buntline Scout originally came with a case. The fellow I bought it from years ago definitely used it as a shooter based on the slight finish wear. As always, Colt forum members have been helpful and informative.
