    Colt Border Patrol .357

Anyone interested in this Colt Border Patrol .357? Seems few were made and this one looks pretty good. Joe will sometimes deal, but this won't last, I'll bet. Go to New arrivals on the listing at left side of page. Colt is listed 8th item.

That's a beauty, but did you notice that there were roll marks only on the left side of the barrel? Is that normal for the Border Patrol model?

Here's a nickel one I sold a while back. Markings on both sides.

Back in the late '70s, I was a deputy sheriff in East Alabama. I knew an Alabama State Trooper who carried a BP Colt. He stated that it had been issued to him.

The grips don't appear to match, either. Two different stain tones.

it does seem strange that it doesn't have any markings on the opposite side of the barrel...I have only ever held one of these Border Patrols however, a tradin' buddy had it, a nickel one in about 92%-94% condition and he wanted 1250 for it, I handed it back very quickly.

Lot's of Colts seem to suffer from that condition, unfortunately.
You'd think that someone would have been a bit more discretionary when adding the stocks for shipping.

The gun looks just like a troopper mark III.

In Wilsons colt book and another colt book, It says the border patrol was on the D frame like the DS but had a very heavy bull barrel and was cahmbered in 38 special. Only 400 were made in 1952. A very rare and valuable Colt,.

Being this is in 357 mag is this a modern trooper mark III with a different roll stamp?

Or is there a modern version of the border patrol that I didnt see?

A quick search and I found that 400 Border Patrol revolvers, in .38 Special were made in 1953; basically a heavy barreled Official Police. The gun pictured on this thread is a MKIII Border Patrol. Don't know what makes this MKIII a Border Patrol other than the roll markings.
