I saw this one a little while back. Interesting isn't it? Wish I could read the archive letter.
Very strange 3 1/2" barrel, very strange front sight, nickel plated 2nd generation (1964). Didn't know Colt ever made anything like this. Priced accordingly.

Looks like 3rd Generation 1981 manufacture to me. Interesting Colt NF. I also would like to be able to read the Factory Letter.
Zoom in on the letter, you can read it clear as day???????
It was sent april 29th 1964. My brithday in 41. Anyone want to send me a brithday present?
If you zoom in it is stll very blurry but it is readable enough that the gun basically letters to be correct as it is.
Somethings don't add up on this gun. The serial number is from 1981. The box is a style not in use until about 1973. In 1964 the box should of been the Black Box or maybe the Stagecoach box. It is my understanding that The Colt Custom Shop was first established around 1976. Thus the Custom Shop label on ths NF in question is not correct for a 1964 shipped gun. Maybe someone that has better information than me can explain these issues.
I blew it up best I could. It does look like 1964 but cant be. Wonder what the real story is? I have george gartons book post war models and it isnt listed. However the book was published 1979. Lots of mystery here.
