Yesterday I watched a "local" firearms auction in Hamilton, Illinois through my Proxibid account. As is typical with many of these auctions, the photography was poor and descriptions worse. I attempted to contact an auction employee earlier in the week with my questions but had no luck. I therefore had no interest in bidding but found the results on the Diamondbacks surprising in terms of demand and prices. The following are hammer prices plus the buyers premium of 15% and assuming $75 to ship.
Colt Diamondback 4" blue 22 - no box; like new $1886
Colt Diamondback 4" blue 38 - NIB $1915
Colt Diamondback 6" nickel 22 - no box; like new; Custom Shop stocks $2605
Colt Diamondback 6" blue 38 - no box; fair condition; Pach. grips $1685
Colt Diamondback 4" blue 22 - no box; like new $1685
Colt Diamondback 6" blue 22 - no box; like new $2145
Colt Diamondback 4" refinished 38 - fair condition $880
Not too long ago, if someone would take a risk on an internet auction with no return privilege, pretty good deals might be had. I have found it more difficult lately. Prices on these Colts seem to be strong and increasing no matter where you search.

I couldn't believe some of the prices on those guns. The word on Proxibid has been out for a year or so now and all the guns go for at or above market value. Used to be fun, not no more!

Stupid prices!

If life was fair, the horse would get to ride half of the time.
The only price there that seemed fair was the 6" nickel Diamonback with the custom shop stocks. Everything else seems to be a $500 higher than I think they are worth, especially the as new 38's.
Makes taking my DB to the range seem like a pricey enterprise.
But that ain't stopping me. Love her to much.
Who's the idiot that sold-off New-Amsterdam? I could have been reading this board in Dutch!
If guns are the cause of gunviolence, pens are responsible for writingerrors.
I've been watching Proxi bid auctions for a few months now and by the time you pay the buyer's premium you are pretty well hosed on anything you buy, plus you are stuck with most of these auction companies substandard pictures. It's just too risky for me to pay retail plus for anything based on a bad set of pictures.
