    Colt Official Police 2"

Did Colt make the Official Police with a 2" barrel in the blued finish as part of their standard product line? Saw one in an auction as new in the factory box but no photos of the end of the box so I couldn't see the label.

Yes, they did, but original examples are scarce. There are apparently quite a few made aftermarket. One would be wise to research before purchasing.

I'll pass on this one. What I have found is that on factory 2" barrels the words "Official" and "Police" should be on two lines. On aftermarket shortened barrels they are on the same line, as this one is.

There are pre-war and post-war versions of these short barreled OP models .... and one size doesn't fit all.

Thanks Abe. I guess that's why I asked the question here. Sorry the picture is small but maybe you can zoom it. S/N points to a 1958 born date.86 (213x209).jpg

That looks like one I would buy if the price was right. What were they asking? If you don't want it, please post a link to the auction. :-) I am sure a few guys on this forum would like it...

If it has a rounded butt/grip/stock its probably the real deal. Grab it!
