    I have this SAA Gen 1 from 1883, I think ...

I will get right to the pictures and I would appreciate anything you can tell me about this SAA.

I know it is not in the same condition, nor has the same parts as when it left the factory.

Additionally, both stocks have a stamping inside that reads Ben Berry SAV'H GA. I put them back on before I took the picks, but I can get pics of it if needed.

I have always wanted a pree 1900 SAA and this is my first.

Looks like your Colt might have been a Government Issue Single Action based on the US that is still visible on the frame. As you’ve noted it was buffed, re-blued, and has had many parts changed out. The colors on the frame are a result of the “cyanide” process, I believe, that some non-Colt folks used, I believe in the 50’s. The barrel appears to be a 50’s replacement barrel and the cylinder was probably replaced at the same time. The hammer and stocks are replacements too.

    Interesting old Single Action.

Thanks for your replies, although I had hoped for more.

Here is a photo for the stamping on the back of the stocks:

Curious thing is that I GOOGLED "Ben Berry" and absolutely nothing came up.

    Anyone have a clue?
