Did Colt ever offer 1 piece walnut grips for the SAA/

Yes in 1873 !

In the first generation 1 piece walnuts grips were the factory standard from about 1873 until somewhere around 1883 or so....but you can still run into guns with 1 piece walnut that are factory correct all the way up til around 1887 in some cases I've found.....I saw an 1899 shipped single action one time that lettered with 1 piece wood.

Pretty sure the 1975 Peacemaker Centennial .45 was shipped with one piece walnut stocks.
