Cobra Markings

Hi, I saw a nice looking Cobra yesterday. Price seemed high $575 no box. (normal these days)

It appears to be about a 93 to 96% Nickel finish, and the S/N points to a 1972 - 73 manufacture.

What bothered me was that under the S/N there is a "S" . I always thought that "N" was for Nickel.

What does the S stand for? Stainless? Is the S correct for a Nickel finish 1972 Cobra? and Is price about right?

No stainless guns from Colt in 1972. The Cobra is an alloy frame gun so no stainless Cobra is possible. The price seems fair to me -- not a screaming deal but fair. I think the "S" is just a standard inspecton mark unless it is part of the serial number.
