are you sure its stainless. could it be Coltguard, like these?
I gave $600 for the trooper mk III 357 at the top of this picture a couple weeks ago.

Ran across a trooper 22cal, stainless. Serial number Y419xx. Revolver in good shape, black grips no major flaws the price was $799.99. Anyone know the age of this revolver and how does the $729.99 sound?

It would (almost) certainly be Coltguard. That and 22LR commands some premium but 799 is a bit high IMO. 729 sounds better. Then again ...![]()
definitely not stainless, coltguard/electroless nickel, maybe bright nickel, or possibly an aftermarket refinish of some type.
This is a Trooper Mark III not a Trooper. You need to be specific. Whether I would pursue buying it (beyond having the money) is condition. It is shows any marks, I would try to get a lower price. But the 22's in Coltguard (electroless) do command a premium.
Very sorry i'm just new enough on this but, yes it is colt guard and a trooper III. It has been fired, some black on face of cylinder. How would one clean the cylinder face?
Y2kdon the 22cal looks like your 357 in above picture.
A Leadaway cloth is probably the best bet. Anything abrasive like Flitz would tend to polish it shiny. JMO
Here is some additional discussion: Cleaning the front of SS/Nickel Cylinders? What's Best?

Around my neck of the woods , I've ran into 2 Trooper MKIIIs in .22. One was a .22 mag and the other a .22LR - both had asking prices of $750.00 - I would have possibly paid that for the .22 mag. but not the .22. Also these were both blue, not ColtGaurd.

Barrel length influences market value. The 8-inch rimfires were only made in 1980 and 1981, and are seldom seen. For many, that translates into a substantially higher market price.
