Hi, Can anyone help with an ideas what this mark is on the inside of the trigger guard of my 1860 Colt army, it's quite small as you see, quite finely done by hand looks like some sort of branch ?
thanks Mike

I don't believe it is an inspecor's mark or any type of marking done by Colt. It's possible the mark is simply a scratch or an obscure mark put there to prove ownership. Since the revolver is about 150 years old and there is obvious wear to all exposed surfaces, I don't believe the mark is from the period. Any mark inside the trigger guard bow would receive a lot of wear and this mark looks relatively recent.

Thanks Blackjack, I agree not done by Colt or an inspector it's clearly handmade, it's on the top of the inside of the trigger guard so I don't think would get a lot wear, the photo doesn't show it clear enough, but does look like a small branch quite neatly done, just wondering if that simbel rings and bells.
Can email a clearer pic if anybodys wants.
thanks,Mike
Reckon it's a Menorah?

Maybe owned by "Mr. Branch".
That is the trademark for the "Long Branch Saloon" was probably owned by Miss Kitty.
