Kuhnhausen states: 1) Roll hammer back far enough to clear the frame. 2) Draw the hammer up and off the frame pin. 3) If resistant, place a drop of oil on the pin and wobble the hammer up off the pin.
I have one of these that I am trying to take apart. I got the JB Wood book which covers the Colt Police Positive. I am having an issue getting the hammer out. I pull the trigger back so the hammer clears the frame at the top and start to lift off the hammer. It comes up part way and the bottom of the hammer catches in the frame at the bottom. It likes a little from clearing the frame. I even got AGI Professional Series and it it he covers the Colt and shows pulling back on the hammer and lifting the hammer right out. This baby isn't wanting to come out. Any help would be appreciated. Frank

I have done that but so far it isn't working. Is it permissable to take a needle file and remove a little off the bottom of the hammer. Has anybody done that. Frank

I got it. I took a diamond needle file and removed just a bit. Then took and put some break free on it. I can't see what harm taking a bit off the bottom of the hammer hurts. It came off but it was somewhat tight. Frank
