Something better happened than me buying a great old Colt 45 ACP revolver today.

That very early 1900s Colt revolver would be mine, had I seen it first and not met a young couple.

    Something better happened.

At the gunshow, a nice young man politely asked for assistance evaluating a high condition Colt DA revolver from the very early 1900s, having seen me inspecting and discussing a different old Colt revolver. I love old Colts! Of course I will handle one, given an opportunity!

Using information from Coltforum (thanks, guys!) I showed him how to inspect a Colt revolver. Oh boy, did this one pass inspection!

He made a deal, A REALLY GOOD DEAL, $500. His wife (gf?) suggested that they walk around and think about it. I told him not to do that, because as soon as he walks away, I will buy it myself. Of course, he bought it. Cool!

The young fellow is no doubt now fully addicted to old Colt revolvers.

It was much more thrilling to help this young man evaluate and buy his first old Colt revolver than buying it myself.

And, I got to handle another wonderful old Colt revolver.

And, I got to keep my money!!!!!

And I got to meet a really nice young couple!

Life is great! What a great gunshow (Akron, OH) and fun day!

I hope the buyer shows up here, introduces himself and shows you his "new" wonderful old Colt (after he Eezoxes it), as I urged him to do.

There is yet another new Colt revolver afficianado and owner amongst us, effective today.

Who says young people are not interested in fine classic Colt revolvers?

I think you really helped that young man & showed a lot of class for not letting him walk away then buying the gun yourself. You could have easily let him think about it & bought it yourself. As it is you probably did introduce a new person into the great world of Colts. It is thrilling when we can help someone into a nice gun.
    Thanks!
    Frank

bmcgilvary reminded me, when we are fortunate enough to be able to help someone like this we probably should invite them to the forum. There are lots of great people here & I'm proud to be a member.

Great little gun show story, a bit different than the usual.

Let's hope he shows up with some photos of his new treasure.

Any nice early Colt New Service is a treasure.

What comes around goes around and you are due a "good one" Collects, (or maybe you just paid back the help someone long ago gave you).

At any rate, Well Done!! It just goes to show you what a great bunch of folks are into this hobby (for the most part)...

It is a good feeling to rejoice over doing something for someone. There are different kinds of 'things done', mostly those momentary, some longer term and rarely one extends to a lifetime.

My congratulations! I'm happy just knowing about it.
