Colt's Peacemaker 22 and DS box information wanted

I have a Peacemaker .22 revolver, SN# G107xx, blue with 4 3/4" barrel length, as well a BNIB Colt's Magnum Cylinder. I've also got the original box, instruction booklet (dated 12/69) and unused warranty card. The pistol is in pristine condition with very little in the way of handling marks and the Magnum Cylinder is unused. I inherited the gun recently from my recently deceased younger brother, and have no information on the pistol other than what I have provided. Can anyone here give me more info, such as date of manufacture, rarity or commonality and current value. I'm not thinking of selling, but want to know what I have...It's ultimately going to my kids.

I also got a Colt Detective Special Revolver box (NO PISTOL) from his estate. The top half is brown wood grained cardboard, and the bottom half is black cardboard. Inside is only the tan wax paper. The label is marked 38 SPECIAL, 2 INCH BBL., COLT BLUE and in the space under DETECTIVE SPECIAL REVOLVER, which I presume is for the SN#, all that is stamped is 33. On the bottom of the box written in orange crayon (?) is C35230. The box is in almost brand new shape with very little handling marks. Any information on the box would also be great.

    Thanks in advance!!!

You have inherited a very nice gun! Your Peacemaker .22 with 4 3/4 inch barrel was made in 1971 and is one of the more scarce variations of this revolver. Such a gun in the condition you describe has a current worth of around $1200. It is probably the most desirable variation of the Peacemaker .22 and New Frontier .22 revolvers.

Your Detective Special box dates from around 1973. The number on the bottom of the box in orange crayon is the serial number of the gun that was originally shipped in the box. The significance of the stamped "33" on the label is unknown, but is probably an inspector's number. The value of the box would be around $50-$75.

I can speak on the Peacemaker,...cause I like 'em, although several on the forum are expert level and I am not. According to Don Wilkerson's book, (the book to have for Colt Scouts, Peacemakers, and New Frontiers)I think your gun was made in 1971. The Peacemaker models bring the most money, and the 4 3/4 length barrels with original box and packing in like new condition will bring a premium. the 4 3/4 length barrel is more desirable than the 4.4 because it is more rare. I think around 4,000 of the 4 3/4 were made. Colt switched to the 4.4 length and around 20,000 or so of those were made. Glad to hear you plan on making it an heirloom. So you know, You would have no problem selling it as it's the most sought after of the Single action 22's IMO and I'm not sure of an exact price. That one will be a gem on the online auctions and I would say bring more than $1,000 in the right condition. Condition is everything. Post some pictures cause we like pictures. these guys can authenticate the box to the gun most times too with pictures. In less than a year of collecting, I have had several instances that the box didn't go with the gun. sorry for the loss of your brother. You do what you want with it. some would keep it, shoot it with your kids and your brother will be smilin'.

OK then...wow. I'm in the middle of a honey do list so posting pictures right now is next to impossible. Maybe tomorrow. I did forget to note that the colored case hardening on the pistol is pristine also and the blued magnum cylinder is in a box of its own, not a sock.Buckspen and what would you say, I can email pics from my iPhone if you PM me your email and/or cell numbers.
