Question Is a re-color case hardened frame stronger?

I have a circa 1896 Colt SAA that was re-color case hardened sometime in the past (I'm thinking 1950s and done by Colt but not 100% sure). Would it be stronger than it originally was?

Not stronger but very nearly as strong as the original. At the temperatures used to case harden only the surface of the metal is changed significantly at the molecular level. She should be fine to shoot, but if you are worried have a qualified gunsmith check her over

    Colt SAA
If it were mine I'd only shoot it with black powder loads. There are a couple of well known authors who write about Colt SAAs that recommend not using smokeless in any SAA made before 1900 & serial # 192,000. They say that is when Colt first warranted their guns for smokeless.
    Enjoy that gun.

Can you post a picture of your SAA?

    Here's mine, same era.

I was thinking about trying it with some weak cowboy loads, but so far decided not to.
