Pre MK Colt trooper. Should I buy it off him if he still has it?

Good deal or what can you guys tell me about this? Is it like a Python in regards to the bank vault lock up? Should I hold out of a Colt Python? I know a guy thats had one at a couple gun shows I have been thinking of getting I have a Colt King Cobra 4" SS too.

For $400 looks like it could be a nice shooter or possibly worth trying to remove that mess.
