    My new Official Police.

Picked it up off layaway today. Seems to be in really great shape. I couldn't resist at $275.00. Everything seems right but the grips. Any input on these? I believe the Coltwood grips were original on this. 4 inch barrel, SN 734XXX.

    the grips:

cleaned it up a little....my crappy pics probably don't do it justice.

    Checkman and j38 like this.

Very nice 1947 dual tone blue transitional OP. It has a pre-war frame, hammer and ejector rod head and a post-war barrel and latch. Yes, Coltwood stocks would have been original. The stocks are later full checkered targets from 1953-1961 and are probably worth what you paid for the entire gun. Not a bad deal.

I think those stocks might be worth almost twice what you paid for the gun. . They look like they are in outstanding condition. Could these have been installed on special order? Are they numbered on the backs?

The gun was made in 1947. The stocks were made sometime between 1953 and 1961.

You got a fantastic deal. That's a very nice example! The target grips are a nice windfall. You could sell those for $200 easily.
