I would like to know how was the standard tolerance cylinder gap

of an Python Revolver .357 Magnum 6" barrel built 1978

Had had the 1978 Python a big cylinder gap ????

Welcome to the forum. The barrel/cylinder gap spec is pretty consistent across the Colt DA revolvers. It is combined with a maximum cylinder end play spec of .003".
