Colt Python #39 vs. #539 vs. #1039 What would you pay?

So If gun 39 is at $8000 where is the same condition Pyton price wise if it is serial 539? What about four digit 1039? What about 5 digit 10039? I have them at:

    $8000
    $7000
    $6000
    $5000

    How do you price them?

My opinion is once you get into triple digits the price drops, then once you get past the first year production the price drops considerably. Serial number 10039 would have no premium in my eyes when compared to other early 60's Pythons. In the same condition as Python 39, I would rate like this according to what number 39 brought.
39: $8000 (because that is what it sold for)
    539: $3500
    1039: $2750
    10039: $2000 (1960)

If condition was higher these numbers would be higher, but imo collectors aren't going to pay big money for gun less than 90% (without original grips or original box) unless there is something spectacular about the gun like a super low number or at least be first year production...jmho. Of course this #39 auction greatly surprised me also. This will be an interesting and fun thread to watch, Good Idea CJS57!

"Laws that forbid the carrying of arms... disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit such crimes... such laws make things worse for the assualted and better for the assailants: they serve rather to encourage than prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man" Thomas Jefferson quoting Cesare Beccaria NRA Life Member
