    Consecutive Serial number

My friend has 2 Colt Pythons, both in excellent condition, with consecutive serial number. He's considering selling one of them. I told him they are worth more together because of the serial numbers being consecutive. Am I correct??

Yes you are Correct. Sometimes Good Friends and Family members share a link with history having Consecutive numbered Firearms. My Uncle and I by accident did this in 1970 with two new Marlin 444 100 year commemorative's. Should you be fortunate to get one of those guns, you will always have the option of getting the second one...maybe.

Yes, you are correct; but how much added value is based on condition, configuration, and whether these are special edition Pythons.

    Condition - needs no explanation

Special Edition or Standard Production - I have seen very few, two to be exact, consecutive pairs that were not issued as a special edition or commemorative . In addition, you will sometimes see consecutive pairs of the so call "distributor" Pythons such those issued by the Lew Horton Distributing Company. So if your friend's Pythons are standard production, then he has something special indeed and the premium is perhaps worth preserving.

Configuration - If your friend's Pythons are special editions, then they will be identical. If they are standard production, the guns are likely the same configuration, as this is how Colt offered to sell pairs (same barrel length and finish). However, if the guns are configured differently, I think they may have a strong collector interest and value, depending on condition.

So the answer is yes, but the premium may not be significant.

Can you describe the Pythons, or share some photos?
