Might be better to move this to the revolvers section.D*
Hello fellow Colt lovers! How's everyone doing? I've wanted to buy a Python as a collector piece for quite awhile now & thinkI'll just go ahead & do it. I want one in exc. to ANIB cond., w/ box. Doesn't have to be Royal Blue, I know that would run probably 2K. So a regular blued finish would suffice, I just want it in exc. cond. Probably 4"/6". I'm not going to be shooting it, like I said it'll be a collector piece. What recommendations do you guys have as far as yr., barrel length, & anything else I've forgotten. Thanks a lot.

The Python only had one blue finish - it's called "Royal Blue", or as I understand it sometimes "Python Blue"; i.e. all blued Pythons have a Royal Blue finish. I believe the 4" Pythons are a little more collectable than the 6". When buying Pythons, ANIB has some pitfalls to be aware of: There is a cottage industry of fake boxes out there; a refinished Python in one of these fake boxes is sometimes passed off as ANIB. Personally, if you want the box, papers, and all of the correct stuff for your collector's Python, I'd try to stick to actual new in box. There are threads here just on Python boxes, fakes, etc. You might want to do a search on those. Also, there are many threads on refinished Pythons - you might want to check those out as well.
