I have both a early agent with gloss anodized frame and a late agent with parkerization. I believe the later finish is more durable for carry use and not worry about corrosion or the anodizing wearing off. I won't comment on future collectibility as I consider these guns as duty guns. To myself a cobra or agent with pachmayr compacts gives me all the confidence I need for CC.

Ronald i agree the last agents with the park finish are no comparison with the very good lookin older ones. The last agents didnt even attempt to keep the grip small (which was basically the only diff. btwn. the agent and the cobra). However i have one of the last agents and like mentioned above, it s agood gun for carrying and not having to worry about the finish much and of course the bigger grips do fit my hand better. It is a rugged looking gun and once i raised the front sight with weld,it shoots much closer to point of aim. It does shoot a very tight group like most Colts. Also you outaa be able to pick one up cheap compared to the nice looking older ones. I would guess you should find one for $400 or less. I paid I think it was $300 for mine (with the box) about a year ago.
