There must be more to the serial number.
The 5 digit #109XX would be a 1960 gun, and Colt did not make a SS 2½ Python in 1960!
Goodmorning all,
I just purchased a 2 1/2" stainless Python and would like a little help... serial is PN109xx, what year was this produced?

Can't tell you for sure, but I had a 6" stainless with PY serial prefix and it was a '93 gun. Grips were rubber Colt target style with silver medallions. Someone will be along with more info, I'm sure. Great gun.
Maybe I'm having a case of Deja Vu but didn't we see a thread about a PN prefix a few days ago and it was a 1994 ? I haven't had my 2nd cup of coffee yet so forgive me.
Oh and they probably did ship with rubber![]()

Yes, PN is the prefix part of the serial number. Date of Manfacture Colt started showing Hogue monogrips on 4" Pythons in the 1995 catalog. Yes, the monogrips had the Colt logo instead of Hogue.![]()
Python with serial number PN109xx would be 1996 manufacture.
Would certainly be interesting to know what you paid for it, and what condition you think it is in?
Thanks, Its 97%+ no box and I didnt pay what its worth...
